Dj T. – Werk It (Moon Harbour)

DJ T. needs no introduction. His stance in dance music is no less than legendary, from his founding of Groove magazine to birthing famous house imprint Get Physical, Thomas Koch has created platforms for so many of the DJs and producers we enjoy today.

DJ T.’s latest EP, ‘Werk it’ on Moon Harbour, is a gem and shows this man’s prowess in the studio and knowledge of dance music, serving up three no nonsense house cuts that’s make you want to move!

First up is title track ‘Werk It’, a driving pulsating jam with one of the warmest basslines I’ve ever heard. Cowbells chime over the top while industrial sirens loop over this dynamic cut. The track creeps in from the start reaching a huge build and crescendo including melodic flutes and jostling vocals. A cracking start to a stella EP.

Next up is ‘The Pressure’, a drum heavy cut collaboration with Johannesburg based slam poet and DFTD and Diynamic associate The Lazarusman. His eery dark distorted vocals dance over this bass heavy track hypnotizing the listener. Distorted sirens and bouncing percs all add up to make this a dancefloor classic.

Last but not least is ‘On and On’, a rubbery, tribal track. Vocal samples cry over the top almost like a war cry as big hi hats, heavy percussions and a serious bassline come together to make this a formidable end to the EP.

On this new release each track is what is to be expected of a man who knows his trade like no other.
