EG Guide: III Points Festival

As we approach the latest edition of Miami’s III Points Festival, anyone can get a bit overwhelmed by the sheer number of artists included in its roster, so we have fashioned a list with a few recommended acts that, we believe, are expected to deliver some quality music and performances.

This selection does not include headliners like Gorillaz, Richie Hawtin, Nicolas Jaar, The xx, and Bonobo for the obvious reasons, they will have the task of giving us what we expect and more while possibly making of III Points be the best festival of the year.

The Black Madonna

Marea Vierge-Noire, aka The Black Madonna, was recently named Mixmag’s “DJ of the Year 2016” while also holding a top 10 position on RA. Last time we saw her was at Movement Festival, where she delivered the quality and style that’s made her one of the must-see (and dance) acts of any festival.

John Talabot

The dark and melodic techno producer is coming fresh with releases on Permanent Vacation and the unique K7 Records. We’re expecting a mesmerizing journey and possibly the best set of the weekend.

Daniel Avery

Coming from last year´s DJ Kicks album, Avery has had a few successful appearances. His track “Naïve Response” was featured on GU40 by Solomun and “A Mechanical Sky” is part of “The Exclusives“, the latest compilation by DJ Kicks. In his own words “The music that always hits hardest is what I’d consider to be unreal, something that sounds like it comes from another place entirely and moves at its own pace. I want to create those moments where opening your eyes on a dance floor becomes difficult. When the outside world is nothing more than a distant thought.” Nuff said…

Sohn

SOHN’s sound brings together soulful vocals with an abstract electronic style, creating deep penetrating atmospheres with a unique sultry touch. His latest album Rennen explores a more simple approach where his voice takes the main stage. This will be the downtempo, lo-fi vibe we’re looking for.

Teklife

This larger-than-life collective includes DJs, producers, designers, and dancers, considered to be the pioneers of footwork. Originally formed by a crew from Chicago, they have now expanded internationally delivering a blistering performance at every show, with a full-on attack on the senses that will most likely whip the dancefloor into a frenzy.

Lane 8

With several releases on Anjunadeep under his belt, along with his This Never Happened concept parties, where everyone must leave their phones and cameras outside of the event, Lane 8, a.k.a. Daniel Goldstein, has earned the respect of the dance community and amassed a very large fan base. Thanks to his unique sets, he´s sure to enrapture anyone who happens to be on the dancefloor at the time.

Moscoman

From Berlin-via-Tel-Aviv comes this very busy producer who mixes Techno, House and New Wave music with the sounds of the Middle East, releasing his first LP A Shot in The Light, through ESP Institute in 2016. He also runs and owns Disco Halal, an eclectic and very interesting record label, and started a second one as well this year, Treisar, which has 12 releases scheduled for 2017.

Lemurian

With appearances this year at Burning Man, a Sunday residency at the Standard Hotel in Miami Beach and dates in places like Ibiza, Amsterdam Greece, Turkey, and Mexico (for this year´s Dia de los Muertos), this Miami local talent has truly international appeal, merging electronic music with mystical rituals and shamanic sounds that set him apart from any others.

Puma & Harry

A Venezuelan DJ duo currently residing in Miami, they´ve kept themselves very busy playing at festivals like Tomorrowland and Rapture Electronic Music Festival at MMW 2017, as well as curating music for their weekly Buena Vista Disco Club Radio web radio show on www.klangbox.fm, and preparing for the launch of their vinyl-only record label, also called Buena Vista Disco Club. Recently signed with Electronic Groove, their sets offer a fresh take on everything from Disco music, German or Romanian Techno and French House.

Fort Romeau

UK´s Michael Greene, or Fort Romeau, has been featured on labels like Rush Hour, Running Back, Ghostly International and Cocoon, bringing a fusion of melody and power to the dancefloor. He started Cin Cin, his own record label, in 2015, featuring well-stablished names as well as up-and-comers, which has since released a slew of intelligent and evocative dance tracks. His sets are always engaging, due to impeccable selection and mixing.

Monolink

A singer-songwriter as well as an electronic music producer, this Berlin artist uses musical instruments when composing his tracks, bringing an organic feel to his music as well as narrative structure. All this makes for captivating sessions that could be described as folk-meets-techno, which means it´s a one-of-a-kind experience for electronic music lovers.

Castaway Stage

Creators of Miami’s most unique island party, the Castaway stage (led by Atom Yard and Kike Roldan) will be a fun packed rendezvous hosting already mentioned Monolink and the support of locals Leo Del Toro, Eveava, Nii Tei, Kora Noir, and True Vine.
