New Faces: Dimitri Veimar

“Dimitri Veimar is the kind of musical discovery that, where I was a religious man, I would go to bed and pray for every night…” said Daniel Avery about the Dj. High praise indeed from an artist who knows all about making an impact. It was Dimitri’s remix of Avery’s ‘Water Jump’ that announced his talent to the world. Veimar constructed a rework that immediately won the heart of its original creator.

We had the chance to talk with Dimitri as he’s about to release a new EP, ‘Blaze’ on Tiga’s Turbo Recordings.

Electronic Groove: What’s your real name, and where were you born?

Dimitri Veimar: Actually, my real name is also Dimitri Veimar and I was born in Germany, the city called Erfurt.

EG:  Describe your music in 3 words?

Dimitri Veimar: Rajneeshpuram’s morning alerts

EG: Where are you based?

Dimitri Veimar: Moscow/Bali/Berlin – I like the change of seasons, and to move around the world makes for good inspiration when producing in the studio.

EG: What labels have you released on in your career?

Dimitri Veimar: Phantasy, Clouded Vision, Omnidisc, Renate Schallplatten, Turbo Recordings

EG: Can you tell us 3 artists have influenced you?

Dimitri Veimar: Daniel Avery, Kris Wadsworth, Jensen Interceptor.

EG: How long have you been producing music? What was your first signed release?

Dimitri Veimar: I have been producing for about 5 years now, and my first full release ‘The Boys’ came out in 2013 on Clouded Vision.

“I feel this EP really reflects the direction of music which I’d like to continue following”

EG: Three things you can’t live without on the road when touring?

Dimitri Veimar: Definitely the noisy kids screaming on the plane, I love them. Equipment that never works and also a promoter who is totally wasted. It all just helps to make me stronger and more balanced!

EG: Can you tell us about your next release?

Dimitri Veimar: Yes, my next release is my ‘Blaze’ EP which is going to be out on Tiga’s label Turbo on the 22nd June. It’s my third release on the label and I am really happy with it as I feel this EP really reflects the direction of music which I’d like to continue following.

EG: One piece of advice you can give to other aspiring producers?

Dimitri Veimar: Drink more than 2 liters of water every day and stay cool!

Dimitri Veinmar’s ‘Blaze‘ will be available June 22nd. Grab your copy here.
