Ruta Sziget lands in Spain

Preparing for the Sziget Festival.

This week, Ruta Sziget Spain kicks off May with two events to take place in the cities of Seville and Valencia.

On Thursday, May 3rd, Sevillian Balkan-Tropical-Bass collective Babushka and Sziget will team up to present the Sziget Sevilla Festival, which will take place in the Sala Malandar, featuring performances from Mexican MC Pablo Borchi’s project Borchi y su Doble Redoble, a mix of street carnival and electronic music, as well as from La Jungla Band, a collective specialized in mashing up dancehall, drum and bass, jungle, bass music, salsa, dubstep, etc., creating an unique and as-yet-unnamed musical genre.

The aftershow will be taken over by Djs Ion din Anina and Matt Bombinoff. The first one is by now a staple in the Sevillian nights, combining Balkan sounds with tropical music, dancehall, afro-trap and basically anything that catches his ear. Matt Bombinoff is a circus artist, apart from being a Dj, performing with the Circo Balkanico in the city of Granada before moving to Seville and teaming up with the Babushka collective.

The party kicks off at 10 pm on Thursday May 3rd at the Sala Malandar, entrance is free and there will be a giveaway of two Sziget Festival double passes.

Valencia

On Saturday, May 5th, Valencia´s Sala Repvblicca will be the venue of the Big Blast Festival, part of the Ruta Sziget Spain, presenting Dutch Djs Moksi and Mike Cervello, part of the Barong Family record label, for a night of EDM, techno and drum and bass in three different stages.

Tickets start at €15 and include the chance to win two Sziget Festival 7-day passes (€300 in value).
