Amsterdam Dance Event and VibeLab have partnered to create the Nighttime Culture Index, a new public measure designed to assess the cultural vitality of nighttime culture.
The first edition will launch during ADE Pro in October 2026, coinciding with Amsterdam Dance Event’s 30th anniversary. Rather than measuring economic impact, the project will examine cultural conditions through an interactive public dashboard and annual report.
Amsterdam, Lagos, New York, São Paulo, Seoul, and Sydney will form the inaugural group of cities. Each will be assessed across Diversity and Representation, Creative Ecology, Space and Infrastructure, Community and Belonging, Policy and Civic Health, and Sustainability and Environment.
VibeLab will serve as research producer, with ADE as founding partner and co-publisher. The project is planned as a three-year partnership, with at least two additional cities set to join in both 2027 and 2028.
A community survey is now open for people living or working culturally in the six participating cities.
