Adidas drops acid-house inspired sneakers

It’s been 30 years since the well-known “second summer of love” and the heyday of rave culture.

The new Adidas shoes honor the period between 1988 and 1989 when rave culture and acid house dominated the United Kingdom.

In those years, young people wore comfortable shoes to dance throughout the night. That’s why designer Gary Aspen created a new collection that seeks to recreate the image of these famous sneakers.

“We thought it was an interesting story to tell because Adidas had great relevance in that subculture … If you’re going to talk about the history of acid house, it’s impossible to tell without the Adidas running shoes, they were the best you could use if you were going to dance all night”, Aspen commented.
