Alex Galvan remixes Filizola’s ‘Get So High’

Both artists collaborate again to create two sticky melodies.

Mexico City-based DJs and producers Filizola and Alex Galvan work together in another Piston Recordings release, after last year’s ‘Tarantino’s House’ EP, only, this time around, Galvan puts on the remixer hat to rework Filizola’s original track ‘Get So High’.

While the original carries a deeper, calmer vibe, the remix ups the tempo, beefs up the bass line and turns the soulful grooves into a club-ready party beat, with lots of different layers of percussion and instrument samples weaving themselves into the groove.

The breakdown nicely keeps the tension building up with vocal and piano loops overlapping as a snare-drum flourish brings the rhythm back, relentlessly pumping away until the track’s final bars.

In Filizola’s own words, “the original version was a track that we did during the same period of creation of the well-known ‘Tarantino’s House’ EP. During those days I was changing a few things in my life, including a new studio setup, that inspired me to produce ‘Get So High’.

I shared the material with Alex and he offered me to do a remix. The next day he called and told me that it was already finished, practically in 1 day. He definitely did a great job, and we sent to Piston Recordings afterwards.”

‘Get So High’ was released on February 11th, 2019 via Portuguese label Piston Recordings. Get your copy here!
