Anyma has issued a statement following the cancellation of his show in Turkey, rejecting the religious and political meaning attributed to the project and confirming plans to appeal the decision.

Matteo describes the Anyma show as a science-fiction story built around themes including darkness and light, destruction and creation, fear and hope. According to his statement, selected darker scenes were taken out of context, manipulated with AI, paired with other music, and circulated online.

He also states that none of Anyma’s original visuals are AI-generated and says neither his team nor the promoter received a meaningful warning or opportunity for dialogue before the cancellation.

The statement adds that the team remains willing to meet with the relevant authorities and provide the work’s full artistic context.

“We intend to appeal the decision and will continue trying to find a path back to Türkiye and to the Turkish people,” Matteo says.

He closes by expressing his hope to return and “finish the story in Istanbul together.”
