Detroit 17′ Party Guide

Time has come to enjoy Detriot’s Movement Electronic Music Festival, one of the summer’s most highly anticipated events.

Electronic music fans from around the world will gather in Hart Plaza along the Detroit River for the 11th annual Memorial weekend celebration.  While Movement’s home base is Hart Plaza, plenty of electronic music action will be happening in clubs and bars all over the city. With so much happening over the course of five days, we have compiled the events we like the most. So rest up kids and come celebrate the birthplace of techno music in downtown Detroit during Paxahau’s 11-year anniversary hosting the world renowned Detroit Movement Festival!

1. Physical Therapy 3 with Matthew Dear / Adult. / Mike Servito & More

When in Michigan, listen to what the locals play. Shigeto who is on this solid lineup is also part of an art installation project with local artists Cupetelli & Mendoza. You should check it out!

2. Black Flag vs Vatos Locos – Official Movement Opening Party

Two of the hottest techno labels at the moment join forces in this special event. We’re really looking forward to this back-to-back of Stacy Pullen vs Hector. You should too…

3. Tresor: Berlin/Detroit

Tangent Gallery is throwing its own mini-festival Movement weekend, starting with Tresor’s party, an admirably diverse affair featuring house don Marcellus Pittman, L.I.E.S boss Ron Morelli and Claude Young, to name a few.

4. The Belleville Three & Richie Hawtin – Official Movement Afterparty

Techno as its best! The Belleville Three (Juan Atkins, Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson) team up with Richie Hawtin in this spectacular lineup. Just be there and dance until it’s over.

5. ReSolute Goes Detroit 

Once again the NYC promoters bring their party to Detroit for an all day celebration with music by Daniel Bell, Vincent Lemieux, Lamache and all the crew’s residents.

6. Dixon b2b Seth Troxler – Official Movement Detroit Afterparty 

Two of the biggest names in the industry are up to deliver a massive Movement’s afterparty on Sunday night. This one will certainly be one of the highlights of the weekend.

7. Carl Cox B2B Joseph Capriati – Official Movement Closing Party

What better way to close a techno weekend than listening to Carl ‘The King’ Cox back-to-back with tech Italian maestro  Joseph Capriati.
