EG.605 Cesar Caballero

Passion is a prerequisite for musicians. Consistent creativity and precision is born from love and curiosity, and all of the above can only be fostered through passion. Cesar Caballero exudes a genuine passion for music. He is a true musician.

Born in Cartagena, Colombia, Cesar’s always been open to exploring new sounds, especially those that represent his Caribbean identity. He appreciates the diverse ways of communicating through music and has made it his life’s mission to create a musical language he can call his own.

A new seed was planted in 1999 when Cesar began DJing and became two-year resident at Oz, Cartagena’s first underground house club

In 2005, Cesar broke through in North America touring with his band Wayové and by 2006 the entire band had relocated to Canada. They continued to gig together through 2008; however, the thriving Toronto club scene had nurtured Cesar’s underground seed to full bloom. House music, DJing and electronic production became Cesar’s primary focus, confirmed by the launch of his record label, Groove Garden Recordings.

The imprint is thriving with collaborations from Omid 16B, Luke Fair, Ricky Ryan, Kosmas, Demi, Jay Antonym, Javier Duke and Nitin. Cesar’s personally conjuring up a steady stream of fresh ideas in funky deep house, and continues to drum in a parallel project called Quantum Vox.

As a DJ, Cesar’s performed alongside artists like Hernan Cattaneo, Danny Howells, Dave Seaman, Jody Wisternoff, Eelke Kleijn, Luke Fair, Tom Middleton, Satoshi Tomiie, Guido Schneider, Nina Kraviz and Desyn Masiello among others. He has been part of the BPM Festival’s lineup for the past 4 years. His progressive in-booth style is focused on groove and the warm vibes only a true-blooded South American can contrive.

DJing, producing and playing drums are permanent components of Cesar Caballero’s spirit. Promoting music and the positive energy that comes from it is what Cesar was born to do. Some would call it his destiny; he simply loves to share his passion with all of you.
