EG SPOTLIGHT.342 Rolasoul

Rolasoul brings together Simon James and Adam Helal, two artists whose paths through electronic music span DJ culture, production, live performance, and studio work.
Simon first gained wider recognition after winning Mixmag’s DJ competition, which led to appearances at clubs including Hard Times, The Haçienda, Cream, Ministry of Sound, and Renaissance. Across his career, he has shared lineups with artists such as Todd Terry, Roger Sanchez, John Digweed, and Pete Tong, while performing internationally in Ibiza, New York, Australia, and beyond.
Adam’s background reaches across several corners of music. His early production work included a remix of Candi Staton’s You Got the Love for Truelove Records, followed by releases and collaborations across house and garage. He later played bass with The Fall, contributing to The Marshall Suite and The Unutterable, while continuing his work as a producer and musician.
Working together from Tileyard in London, Simon and Adam created Rolasoul as an outlet built around personal identity, instinct, and musical freedom. Their work moves through progressive house and deeper electronic sounds, with an emphasis on strong pacing, character, and storytelling.
Following the response to their Balance Selections mix, Rolasoul now joins Electronic Groove for EG SPOTLIGHT.342. Recorded live with FX, the session features music from Tiefstone, Sean Harvey, Zuccasam, Luzon, William Orbit, Gowzer, Trilucid and Phil Martyn, alongside unreleased selections and Rolasoul’s own No Going Back featuring Sasha Loona.
