Five sets to listen ahead of Minimal Effort’s Halloween edition

A hauntingly irresistible lineup.

Minimal Effort is set to return to the Globe Theater in DTLA on Friday, October 29th, inviting out some of the world’s most in-demand selectors to Los Angeles for one hellraiser of a Halloween bash.

With world-class talent through its lineup, we thrust the spotlight upon some of their most powerful and gripping acts for this very special occasion that includes names such as Atish, Bingewatch, DJ Harvey, DJ Susan, Human Resources, Lee Burridge, More Than Friends, No Pants Party, Nutty, Red Axes, and Rybo.

Ahead of their performances at Minimal Effort we have selected some of their recent sets.

DJ Harvey

One of the early exponents of the US disco/garage/house sound in the UK, DJ Harvey’s influence in the dance world is all out of proportion to his own fame. Known to some as the guy who played early hours at Ministry Of Sound and to others as the driving force behind the Black Cock re-edit label and Map of Africa, the man’s a true legend to those who look back on the disco era as the birth of dance.

Lee Burridge

Instrumental to the rise of electronic music in Hong Kong during the ’90s, and to the burst in popularity of organic house, Lee Burridge is one of the scene’s true chameleons. With a captivating story arch, he is the man behind the ‘All Day I Dream’ label, championing the deeper, more emotive side of progressive structures.

DJ Susan

Hood Politics Records founder DJ Susan is driven by a relentless energy and a knack for getting the party started. When you think of the name ‘Susan’, you tend to imagine a caring mother, or a loving aunt; someone who interacts with the warmth connected to the classic name. Well, in the case of San Diego powerhouse, DJ Susan, the rules ain’t quite the same. Unconventionally, this tech house maven gets her kicks from big builds, heavy drops, and gritty baselines.

Atish

Another one of the finest exponents the organic side house music has to offer, Atish has become a regular staple at events like Burning Man, Do Not Sit On The Furniture, and more. Dynamic, emotive, and ecstatic, the ‘Atish Experience’ is a catalyst, turning deep melodies and sophisticated rhythms into musical journeys.

Human Resources

The LA-based duo of Cyril Bitar & Izzy Ab is widely known for leading the forefront of LA’s biggest Halloween and NYE event series, Minimal Effort. With a blossoming career as producers, the pair have hit the ground running with releases on the world-renowned Ghostly International, Pressure Dome, Lapsus Music, and Body Action Music, while their sets blur the boundaries between house, minimal, organic, and harsher overtones.
