Google Arts & Culture and YouTube present ‘Music, Makers & Machines’

A virtual exhibition dedicated to the history and legacy of electronic music.

Created by Google Arts & Culture and YouTube, the new virtual exhibition ‘Music, Makers & Machines’, seeks to celebrate electronic music and its roots. This project represents an important recognition of the crucial role that this music plays within our popular culture and to carry it out, more than fifty international cultural actors from 15 different countries have collaborated, including museums, archives, festivals, educational establishments, experts. of the industry and pioneers of the electronic music scene.

Among them, we can find projects and brands such as XL Recordings, Innervisions, Kompakt, Kitsuné, Moogseum – Bob Moog Foundation, WDR, Museum of Youth Culture, Clubcommission Berlin (DE), SMEM – Swiss Museum for Electronic Music Instruments, Amsterdam Dance Event, Philharmonie de Paris, Barbican Center, Chicago History Museum, Sydney Opera House and the Nakamura Keith Haring Collection.

Although the current restrictions due to the pandemic have left the dance floors empty, many of the assets featured on the platform will transport visitors to the clubs, institutions, and studios that have helped shape the community it has become today. The result is a highly immersive resource, featuring augmented reality features, over 13,000 archived photos and videos, 200 online exhibits, 360 ° tours, and 3D scans along with text that delves into iconic scenes, sounds, and cities. of which the highlights can be highlighted. To complete its dissemination, ‘Music, Makers & Machines’ will also have lessons for schools and students that will serve to impart knowledge both offline and online.
