Hayden James does Brooklyn

It was the perfect Thursday night in Brooklyn as we got to attend one of Hayden James’ performances from his “Just A Lover” tour.

The Music Hall of Williamsburg is a great location for this kind of show because it’s a big venue but also a cozy one as you feel very close to the artists who are performing.

When we arrived Luke Million was playing, setting the vibes with some Nu Disco and House tunes to start the night. After him it was the turn for Dena Amy from Sidney, who is joining Hayden for the entire tour. Her set was very energetic, full of groovier beats to get the people ready for the main show. One of the highlight moments of her set was when she played ‘Better For My Brain’ by Pele & Shawnecy, which got people dancing all the way.

When Dena Amy finished playing, we could really feel the energy going in the crowd. After some minutes the lights went off and Hayden appeared in the middle of the stage where his gear was located. The first thing we heard was a synth intro that eventually led to his remix of  SAFIA’s track ‘Embracing Me. When the beat started people began dancing and the whole place turned into a huge party.

We got to experience all his major hits live while some great trippy visuals over the entire stage. Something About You’ and Permission To Love’ had to be part of the show, obviously. For such a short time since Hayden James started to be an internationally renowned artist, it was surprising to see so many people singing to his songs as if they knew them their entire life. He was a great live performer and we can’t wait for him to be back in NYC!
