Lighting in a Bottle Festival 2018

It comes as no surprise, that this year’s Lighting in a Bottle Festival was just as awesome as always… It might even be safe to say that with its musical diversity, artistic spread, and general vibe it was better than ever… The weather was stayed warm, the lake (while bright green!) was refreshing, and the people could not have been friendlier.

First of all, we have to give a huge shout out to the Favela Bar for not only starting the party early with their Wednesday night yacht party but for keeping it going strong all weekend. Some of the festival’s favorites were the back-to-back set of Patricio and Patrice Bäumel, the surprise set by Mira, and Electronic Groove’s very own Enzo Muro killing it on Saturday night. Follow that up with Amháin on Sunday afternoon and it was the perfect way to get back in the groove for one more night.

It was nice to see that the Woogie returned to its original place just a short walk up the hill…and was full of psychedelic spires, water sprayers, and at some point one or two humongous inflatable flamingos. From afternoon until night DJs such a Rampa, SAAND, Mira, Öona Dahl and Rodriguez Jr. kept the crowd dancing nonstop. And while the music would’ve been enough on its own, to the right of the stage was a constantly developing, super cool, trippy cat collaboration by artists Caro Caro and Rhadwood.

Another great space to venture was the Crossroads tent. With its more organic feel and artists like Eduardo Castillo and Viken Arman, it was the perfect place for a bit of decompression time.

It would have been beyond impossible to see, hear, and try everything that was going on over this long weekend. From the healthy food options and cooking classes to the plentiful waste sorting stations and free water sources, the Lighting in Bottle organizers and volunteers worked hard to keep this festival as eco-friendly and engaging as possible. Thank you to everyone for another truly memorable festival.
