New Faces: Orly Gal

ORLY GAL has acted as an essential Producer, DJ, and Curator, providing the Los Angeles and International Techno Underground communities with memorable moments for well over a decade. Drawing from influences rooted in Dark Wave, Punk, and Rock; The Mexican-born, Israeli and Europe national’s taste contrasts esoteric overtones alongside high-energy rhythms found in the modern hard dance sound. Orly is also the host and founder of FMLA, a Los Angeles media channel dedicated to showcasing the Masterminds that drive The Electronic Music Movement. Supporting a long list of acts like Regis, Takaaki Itoh, and Dubfire; Orly has cultivated a knack for finding the right balance of high energy tracks and pushing the aural envelope of her listeners.

As Orly Gal drops her new collaboration with Luis Miranda on KD RAW, we caught up with her to celebrate the milestone and learn more about the Mexican-born, LA-based artist.

EG: Hi Orly, what’s your real name, and where were you born?

Orly Gal: Orly Gray Gal, Born in Mexico City, Raised in Israel.

EG: Describe your music in 3 words?

Orly Gal: Expressive, Me

EG: Where are you based?

Orly Gal: The city of Los Angeles

EG: What labels have you released your music through in your career?

Orly Gal: KD Raw, Ushuaia Music, DZB Records, Blok Recordings & Haustronaut Recordings.

EG: Can you tell us 3 artists you aspire to / have influenced you?

Orly Gal: Pixies, Justice, and Vivaldi.

EG: How long have you been producing music? What was your first signed release?

Orly Gal: I have been composing for over 10 years, but started producing electronic music in 2018. My first release was  ‘What Is That Sound’ and it was released on Hastronaut Recordings.

EG: Three things you can’t live without on the road when touring?

Orly Gal: Red lipstick, extra USBs, and a great pair of shoes.

EG: Can you tell us about your next release?

Orly Gal: Next release is with LA producer and DJ Luis Miranda – a compilation with KD raw called ‘My Mind’; Luis and I always vibe well and this track is a great representation of this- taking both our styles and merging them into an atonal story we’re proud to share.

EG: One piece of advice you can give to other aspiring producers?

Orly Gal: Put in the time and enjoy the ride!
