Bellalou Records enters a new phase with its sixth release, BLR006, as ANNA MARIA X returns with “Break The Matrix”, a hypnotic, genre-fluid production that pushes progressive house into darker and more elusive territory.
Built around tension rather than convention, “Break The Matrix” unfolds as a constantly shifting combination of rhythm, texture, and pressure. A driving Korg bassline provides the track’s physical foundation, while layers of distinctive hi-hats create a restless groove that never fully settles. Above it, trippy and otherworldly synth textures move through the mix, giving the production a sense of depth and controlled disorientation.
The track develops with patience. Instead of relying on immediate payoff, its elements gradually accumulate, creating a growing sense of anticipation. The tension becomes almost physical before finally breaking through with the track’s defining vocal command: “break it.
It is the point where the carefully constructed pressure gives way, revealing the full force of the production.
There is a deliberate ambiguity to “Break The Matrix”. It draws from progressive house, but resists being contained by it. Its hypnotic repetition, evolving textures, and club-focused architecture place it somewhere between the familiar and the unexpected, a space where the groove remains central while the production is allowed to become more
experimental.
For ANNA MARIA X, the track represents another step toward a more distinctive sonic identity. Less concerned with fitting into a defined category and more focused on creating a particular atmosphere, “Break The Matrix” reflects an artist increasingly comfortable with letting instinct lead the production.
With BLR006, Bellalou Records continues to develop beyond a genre-specific framework, building a catalogue around individuality, movement, and electronic music with a strong sense of character. The label’s direction becomes increasingly clear: records designed for the club, but with enough depth to exist beyond it.
“Break The Matrix” is not built around a single moment. It is built around the feeling of gradually losing control until the rhythm takes over. Is a track for dancefloors ready to lose their sense of direction and find something else in the process. Ready to lose their sense of direction and find something else in the process.
