Paco Wegmann & Sirus Hood share 5 of their favorite tracks

Romanian newcomer Paco Wegmann’s sound is based on a solid diet of 909, Chicago and Detroit records. Already with releases on Hottrax, Elrow, Viva Music, Kwench, Savor to name a few, expect plenty more to come from this talented producer who sees electronic music as a culture rather than a trend. Sirus Hood started his DJ career at the age of 18, becoming a regular DJ at the best Parisian clubs. A self-taught producer, his music was initially picked up by the likes of Amine Edge & DANCE’s CUFF and Claude VonStroke’s Dirtybird. Following DJ residencies at Sankeys Ibiza, Eden Ibiza, Ministry of Sound London and both Social Club and Showcase in Paris, his talents were fully displayed to audiences across the globe. Today he continues to spend countless hours in the studio and his diverse range of music can be found on Rawthentic, Cajual, Sola, Wow! And Under No Illusion.

Paco Wegmann and Sirus Hood collaborate to unleash the high-octane ‘Rip Tide’, featuring their inspirations of the seminal Chicago House movement, released on Hot Creations this January 31st.

For the special occasion both artists have shared five of their current favorites.

6.DJ Deeon – Who-U-Wit – Dance Mania Records

“DJ Deeon and the label Dance Mania inspired us for the Rip Tide EP on Hot Creations. This is the classic ghetto sound of Chicago. Who-U-Wit is part of his EP Chop Shop release in 1996. It’s a fast track. Simple and raw, yet very effective”.

7. K’Alexi Shelby & Tony Lovlesss – Anal Probe – Tuskegee

“This is a Techno Chicago style track, produced by the Hero K’Alexi Shelby on Seth Troxler & The Martinez Brother’s Tuskegee label. T his collaboration with Tony Lovlesss is built for warehouse parties. The pressure and power are exponential. The synths riding up and down are surreal”.

8. Paul Johnson – I’m A Freak – Nite Life

“Freaky tune from the House King Paul Johnson, also from Chicago. This is a timeless record released in 1995. Everything in this track is simple but has this magical groove from Paul Johnson and a perfect vocal gimmick”.

9. DJ Sneak – About Principle – No. 19 Music

“Very classy and slick masterpiece from the House Gangster DJ Sneak. The vibe is minimalistic and atmospheric, built in a fast House track. It is a 9 minutes long ear candy that takes us on a serious journey”.

10. Roy Davis JR. – Under Tha Sun – Downtown 161

“Here is a Deep and hypnotic record produced by the legendary Roy Davis JR. It’s the last track of the B side from his Tha Black Light Exposure EP released in 1995. It’s a captivating, the disco beat and the samples are carefully curated”.
