Reliving the halcyon days of progressive house music. It’s rather difficult to push the boundaries…
Once more, Miami Music Week brought us a massive amount of events from all electronic music styles, and one of the gatherings that has become a must-go for avid fans is Crosstown Rebels’s Get Lost.
As in every year, Damian Lazarus and his team carefully produce an open-air party that reunites some of the best worldwide underground talents. This edition was hosted at Lemon City Studios including over 40 artists spread over four different stages. We can confirm that this event continues to expand bringing a wide range of sounds, genres, and inviting all attendees to immerse in a surreal world where electronic music, lights, and ambiance merge into a mysterious playground to be absorbed in.
After attending Get Lost we got together to choose our favorite sets from the event. As always this a very tough selection to make. It was based on musical innovation, track selection, mixing style, and crowd vibes. Definitely, most of the artists included on the lineup dropped top sessions but these were the ones that stood out the most.
Here’s our selection!
1. Magit Cacoon
This was our favorite set and a solid top 3 of the entire music conference. The Israeli muse took us on a journey packed with deep melodies and strong baselines including remixes of classics like Opus III – ‘It’s A Fine Day’ and Donna Summer – ‘I Feel Love’. Inside a dusty stage, the session was packed with multiple styles layered beautifully while keeping the energy and intensity at peak. She’s about to release a new EP on Crosstown’s side label Rebellion, so stay tuned for more news. Thank you Magit!!! <3
2. Davide Squillace HiFi
On the same week the Italian boss was releasing his debut album ‘Once in a Time in Napoli’, he dazzled us with his first live set under his new HiFi staple. Moving through different tracks included on his brand new LP, and even though his computer crashed briefly, we can’t stress the quality of the music produced by this prominent artist who keeps breaking boundaries and giving his fans something to cheer for. Definitely an act to be included on this list. Grazie Davide!
Some of the best techno we heard all week was by the always-amazing Cassy Britton. We’ve enjoyed some of her sublime sets in past years but this time it was different. Her set at Get Lost was intense, full of energy with overlapping techno grooves taking us to deep and dark places. We could only wish she would have played on a different stage. We are still coughing dirt from that dusky bunker…
4. Patrice Baumel
The Dutch DJ and producer keeps standing from the rest with his impeccable productions. This time, Baumel brought his A game to Get Lost delivering a musical journey loaded with deep and intense sounds showing us his excellent taste and cutting-edge style. The session took place at the Teia stage creating a desert look alike atmosphere that increased the afternoon euphoria.
The Brooklyn-based couple, Rami & Tamer played a deep ethnic solid set with the classy feel that you should expect from this ever-growing duo. With a packed dancefloor, the main stage was truly locked into their hypnotic sound giving the gathering the proper vibes for the closing hours to come in the hands of Damian Lazarus, Jamie Jones and Carl Craig..
Other artists to mention are Damian Lazarus, Pale Blue (live), Felix Da Housecat, Kölsch, Dance Spirit, Jamie Jones, and Atish.
Thanks to everyone who attended and enjoyed this unique underground event. We hope Miami will be home for many more Get Lost Experiences, until 2019!
