Audio streaming is also up by 15%.

According to a report by MRC Data, an analytics firm that specializes in collecting data from the entertainment and music industries, the sale of vinyl records has increased by 108%, compared to the same period of last year.

Back in the first 6 months of 2020, 9.2 million vinyl were sold, with the figure now ascending to 19.2, which correlates to the comeback the format has seen over the recent years.

It is also worth noting that vinyl album sales also surpassed those of CD albums, which clocked in at 18.9 million for the same period. This follows on from vinyl surpassing the annual revenue of CDs in the US last year for the first time in 34 years.

Some of the top-selling vinyl albums are ‘Evermore’, by Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Good Kid M.A.A.D City’, and Billie Elish’s ‘When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?’.
