New Faces: Matrefakt

Having met through mutual friends whilst pursuing other projects, the two lads from Liverpool soon discovered they shared a mutual passion for the same styles of music. With this in mind, they set about finding themselves a studio space in the city. This lead to many long days and nights of hard work, where after nearly 2 years of being together almost every day, it felt natural for them to pursue their shared ambition together rather than individually, which lead to the formation of Matrefakt in the summer of 2018.

Not keen on talking much themselves, Matrefakt believe that with their passion for sound and endless endeavors in the studio, it is only right that the music does the talking for them. With confidence in their sound and a stockpile of new music to share, the lads felt that it was the right of them to start their own imprint and so Attitudes To Life or ATL Records for short was created in early 2019, kicking things off with a 3-track EP taking the name of the lead title ‘Radiation Generation’, which has been supported by some of the biggest names in the scene.

Matrefakt just released their new ‘False Promises’ EP via Sous Music. Today they present themself.

EG: Can you tell us about your next release?

Matrefakt: Our next release is ‘False Promises’ on Anja Schneider’s Sous Music, it’s a track we have had for some time, a track that we really like, but want to rush to put out, we sent it to Anja last summer and she asked about signing it for her label, this immediately felt like the right thing to do with this track especially as it was going out as a single.

EG: One piece of advice you can give to other aspiring producers?

Matrefakt: Be yourself!
