In a significant move to support the Los Angeles community affected by January’s devastating wildfires, Bandcamp has announced a 24-hour fundraising campaign. The digital music platform will channel 100% of its sales revenue to aid those impacted by the natural disaster.
The initiative, running from midnight PST on February 6th through midnight PST on February 7th, will direct all proceeds to MusiCares, a Recording Academy affiliate. This organization has been at the forefront of providing crucial support to displaced residents, offering essential healthcare services, mental health assistance, and emergency financial aid. MusiCares has already demonstrated its commitment by pledging $1 million to relief efforts earlier this year.
The campaign has garnered support from industry leaders including Roland, Shure, Lagunitas, Victrola, Roon / Harman, the American Association of Independent Music (A2IM), and the Worldwide Independent Network (WIN).
Adding an artistic dimension to the initiative, Bandcamp has collaborated with LA-based artist Shepard Fairey to create a limited-edition t-shirt, with all proceeds contributing to the relief fund.
