EG: Welcome to EG, Alon. It’s great to chat with you today. Where are you right now?

Melodic: I am currently in Miami.

EG: So let’s start with your new release on Beat On Time, ‘Me & Them.’ It has been getting a lot of attention. What inspired this latest project and how did it come together?

Melodic: My inspiration for these tracks came from the new indie dance sound, some bigger stage festival sounds, and some thinking outside of the box, to imagine something new and fresh.

EG: Your track ‘Panic Boy’ is a sexy, funky groover. Can you tell us more about the creative process behind this track and how you achieved its energy?

Melodic: I listened to iconic songs from the ’70s to help me imagine the sound and the energy of this track. When I make tracks, I always start with the groove (drums, bass, rhythm) and then I go for the hook, then create more parts. After I have a few different sections, I make an arrangement for the track.

EG: The track ‘Don’t Change My Mind’ serves as a transition between different styles on the release. How did you approach blending these sounds, and what was your vision for this particular track?

Melodic: I wanted to make something that is not out of the ordinary for my sets. I had a vision of combining different elements and genres into one big track. I took inspiration from different places and just went with it. This track comes with a vocal vibe, Berlin style, a house groove, and a different energy.

“All of my collaborations so far have had a great influence on my sound and inspired me to keep leading forward”

EG: ‘FM 7’ is noted for its future vibe and glitchy, melodic elements. What inspired the unique story and sound of this track, and how does it fit into the overall theme of the release?

Melodic: I wanted to make something futuristic and I saw glitchy noise and sounds as a good way to achieve this vision. I tried to go somewhere unique with this track and take it in my signature direction alongside No Result, with a lot of details and sound design.

EG: Beats On Time, under the leadership of Saqib, has become a significant player in the indie dance scene. How has working with Saqib and the Beats On Time label influenced your music and your career?

Melodic: Saqib is a very professional person and easy to work with, doing amazing work with a truly incredible label. Lately, it has brought me a new and different vibe to work together with him, and overall it has been very positive!

EG: Also, your rise has been impressive, with performances alongside some of the top names in the industry. How have these collaborations shaped your sound and approach to music?

Melodic: All of my collaborations so far have had a great influence on my sound and inspired me to keep leading forward; to create a different style and bring new ideas with my own sound signature.

EG: Tel Aviv has a vibrant underground music scene. How has your experience as a resident DJ at Renaissance and your time at Sunner influenced your music production and DJing style?

Melodic: In Tel Aviv, there are a lot of genres and an audience that loves music and is very loyal. They come to all your performances, which inspires you and gives you the energy to keep moving forward to the next level.

“Persistence always wins in the end”

EG: You’ve achieved a lot in your career, including topping Beatport charts and working with prestigious labels. What’s next for you, and do you have any exciting projects or collaborations in the pipeline?

Melodic: I have some things that I will share in the future.

EG: Outside of music, are there any passions or hobbies that you pursue which help inspire or influence your creative work?

Melodic: Outside of music, I love art and everything related to the art world.

EG: Inclusion and diversity are crucial in the music industry. What are your thoughts on this? How can the industry leaders and others be more proactive?

Melodic: To be more dominant and always lead and keep moving forward, and not to give up even when it’s tough—persistence always wins in the end. I’ll end with a phrase that has always been with me throughout my entire career. No risk, no magic.
