tildatoonz’s musical journey started with her grandpa’s old upright piano, a cherished heirloom in her childhood home. She would spend hours singing and playing, losing herself in the magic of music. By 16, she was performing with indie folk, rock, jazz, and neo-soul bands, showcasing her versatility. Music was always her first love, and it led her to Falmouth University, where she fully committed to her craft.
After graduating, tildatoonz moved to Bristol, a city known for its vibrant music scene. Here, she delved into electronic music production, experimenting with new sounds and ideas.
Though tildatoonz started as a singer/songwriter and producer, DJing became a thrilling new musical chapter in 2021. In Bristol, she discovered the exhilarating freedom of DJing – each set a unique, unrepeatable experience. It was a refreshing break from the precision of classical training, allowing her to live in the moment and let creativity flow.
Brighton soon called her name, and it’s where she found her groove, performing at events and sharing her music with new friends, collaborators and a young and vibrant audience.
tildatoonz draws inspiration from a diverse array of artists like Nia Archives, Roni Size, Minor Science, Lianne La Havas, Scott Matthews, and Felivand. A standout moment was at a no_one party in Bristol, where DJ Rishi’s carefree, genre-bending set inspired her to inject that same level of fun into her own performances.
It’s at Houghton Festival that tildatoonz gets her trainers muddy. The fest holds a special place in her heart with its incredible energy and stellar lineups. She also loves the underground club scene, with memorable sets at The Crown and The Island in Bristol.
Brighton’s music scene is a constant source of inspiration for tildatoonz. It’s a place where grassroots and female DJ collectives thrive, offering funky venues perfect for emerging artists. The sense of community and collaboration has been instrumental in her artistic journey.
tildatoonz’s creative process is fluid. Experimenting with chords, synths, drums, and bass lines. Her favorite piece of kit? The piano, is where much of her creativity originates. She loves using samples, chopping and editing them to create entirely new sounds.
From her early days of soft folk, jazz, and R&B, tildatoonz has evolved into a confident producer of fast-paced electronic music. A significant milestone was overcoming the notion that music production was a male-dominated field. Meeting other female artists and producers empowered her to fully embrace her unique style, blending jungle, jazz, garage, soul, and indie elements.
Her latest track’s essence was captured when the sun appeared after a lot of rain. She noticed how it affected everyone’s energy, made life that little bit easier. So lock in for some respite from the rain and embrace the feel-good summery vibe that is ‘Little Bit of Sunshine’.
