Detroit-based DJ & producer Henry Brooks just released his remix of Selective Response’s track, ‘Enemy Within,’ included in the new CRISIS OF MAN VA compilation, ‘The First 5 Years: Remixed.’

Led by  Selective Response since 2019, the North American imprint has become a reference in the techno circuit featuring regular releases by well-known artists such as  Perc, Sara Landry, Parallx, Frazi.er, and more.

On this occasion,  rising talent Henry Brooks has reinterpreted the  ‘Enemy Within’ giving his own cutting-edge and influential touch to the  Selective Response track.

“I had a lot of fun remixing this track! I wanted to make sure I kept a lot of the grittiness from the original as that’s what I loved about it and why I chose to remix this one for the compilation. I decided to resample and chop up a lot of the synth stems, adding some creative filtering and distortion using the Arturia Filter MS-20 plugin, as well as Movement by Output to alter the textures and rhythm. I also chose to speed it up a couple bpms and make the track more rolling & percussive.”, Brooks commented.

Since debuting as a DJ in 2016, Henry Brooks has established himself as a prominent figure in the techno scene, delivering captivating performances at notable events like Detroit’s Movement Festival and closing at Tresor Berlin during his first European tour. A core artist in Richie Hawtin’s ‘From Our Minds’ tour and a collaborator with Charlotte De Witte’s KNTXT, he blends high-energy and intricate rhythms in his sets. Recognized as part of ‘Detroit’s Next Generation of Techno Artists’ by Paxahau, he draws on both classic and contemporary influences while pushing the boundaries of the genre.

Other artists included in the remixes compilation are  Perc, DLV,  EAS Dark Brooding,  Cosmic Interference,  Unconformist, Khine, and more.
