Renaissance introduces ‘What Could it Be? EP’ from highly respected Spanish producer Martin HERRS, who marks his label debut. With previous releases on renowned imprints such as Diynamic, Bedrock, Mobilee and Global Underground, Martin’s CV continues to go from strength to strength.
The title track, ‘What Could It Be?’, sets the tone with a melodic, breaks-rhythm. Alongside ‘Infinity’ (with NAVAS) and ‘Should I Love This Way?’, the EP presents a trilogy of emotive electronica that evokes the likes of Orbital, Bicep, Overmono and Franky Wah at their breakbeat best. Beautiful, hair-raising stuff!
‘Fearless’ is the lone, 4/4 outlier. With a Detroit-inspired piano line juxtaposed against a patois-esque vocal, there’s a distinct indie-vibe that brings diversity and scope to the project; or, as they like to say down the local supermarket, ’something for everyone’.
