Raised in a household where computers and global music coexisted in perfect harmony (his father, a systems engineer and avid music collector), Cid’s exposure to technology and rhythm came early. By age 12, he was already immersed in software like Cubase, FL Studio, and Reason, instinctively building aural worlds before he ever set foot in a club.
Years later, he would find himself in high-profile studios in New York City, engineering for artists like Beyoncé, Mos Def, Lady Gaga, and Talib Kweli. But behind the scenes, Cid was shaping something of his own. “I created a 3-track demo and it landed in the hands of Todd Terry, who signed my first records,” he recalls. The leap from studio engineer to dance music auteur was swift. When DJs started playing his tracks live, inviting him to witness the crowd’s reaction, Cid saw his path with clarity. “Seeing the crowd go wild to my music was a defining moment. I knew I wanted to be the one playing the records.”
He taught himself to DJ, quickly gaining traction across New York’s club circuit with appearances at Cielo, Pacha, Output, Verboten, and Sankeys. His sound, a heady blend of melodic depth, Latin-inflected grooves, and crisp, high-fidelity design, drew early comparisons to figures like Chus & Ceballos and Oscar G, though his vision extended further into the introspective and the transcendental.
A breakthrough came early: a 17-city world tour, just a year and a half after his first DJ gigs. The itinerary included stops across three continents and a pilgrimage to Burning Man. “Thinking back, it’s a blur,” he says. “But it made me feel like I was stepping into something exciting and meaningful.” The resonance of his productions—across cultures, time zones, and language barriers—cemented what would become one of Cid’s lifelong themes: connection through vibration.
This philosophy is embedded in every corner of his output. His tracks, whether aligned with progressive house, melodic techno, or deeper groove-based styles, operate as sonic diaries, each one a timestamp of personal experience. “My music reflects memories, ideas, and dreams… expressed through sound and rhythm,” he says. “I create music for myself, to bring a sense of wholeness by expressing my true emotions.”
A meticulous ear born from years in the studio powers his DJ sets, where every frequency is calibrated with intention. “A great set happens when I can feel the energy of the room and then feed them even more,” he says. “There’s a spiritual intention behind it—working in the background, unconsciously elevating people through vibrations.” For Cid, music is not merely entertainment, but a healing modality, a tool for transformation. “On the dance floor, I want to see tears of hope, gratitude, and connection. Music should remind us we’re blessed to be here.”
This holistic view of music extends into his label, Endangered. Founded as both a platform and a philosophy, it was born to support artists creating with soul and purpose. Those who dare to challenge boundaries in the service of something greater. “It’s a multi-sensory experience,” he explains. “Endangered is a lifestyle—where only the best survives.”
The label’s mission transcends records. With carefully curated events, immersive showcases, and a long-term vision still largely under wraps, Endangered is evolving into a cultural vessel. “We’re quietly working on something major,” he teases. “Over the next year, you’ll begin to see what Endangered is truly about and why it’s so powerful.”
Still, even with a career that has taken him to over 40 countries and iconic venues around the world, Brian remains grounded in his original intent: expression through authenticity. “One of my highlights has been to play over 8 hours of my own original music to thousands of people and keep them engaged the whole night,” he says. “I’ve developed a distinct sonic identity that gives people a one-of-a-kind experience.”
That identity is expanding. In his latest productions, Cid is embracing funkier, jazz-inflected palettes—still dark, still spiritual, but with a more celebratory heartbeat aimed squarely at the dance floor. “There’s a groovier, more eclectic vibe coming,” he says. “Still with depth, but with more joy.”
As Brian Cid steps into this next phase, his message remains unchanged: transformation through frequency, unity through sound. “Everything I do is about giving people meaningful moments,” he says. “Reminding them that everything is okay, that we all have the power within us to become who we want to be.”
