His creative journey, marked by landmark projects like ‘Distorted Youth’, ‘Five Phases’, and debut album ‘The Belonging’, is rooted in storytelling and emotional exploration.
Now steering his own platform, belonging, Innellea continues to build a multidisciplinary community that goes beyond music. Following the debut release ‘Inside Your Mind’, the next installment is ‘Childhood’, a collaboration with Goom Gum, which dropped at the beginning of June. Described as a club anthem reconnecting listeners with their emotional roots, the release marks another step toward the label’s upcoming VA titled ‘Finding Home,’ to be out on September 5th.
To celebrate the new release, Innellea shares 5 insights from his creative process.
1. Don’t force yourself to make music if you’re not feeling it
In my experience, forced sessions usually lead nowhere. Most of the time, I just end up frustrated. If you still want to create something, turn it into a game. For example, try producing a full track in 15 minutes. It helps you stay playful and sharp without pressure.
2. Set limitations for yourself
Less can often lead to more. In a world where everything is instantly available, limiting your tools or sounds can actually boost your creativity. Try working with just one sample pack or one plugin. It forces you to focus on the core of the idea instead of getting lost in options.
3. Find your own rhythm
Everyone has a different creative clock. I’ve found that I’m most productive and inspired in the morning. That’s when ideas come naturally. Figure out when your mind is most open and build your routine around that.
4. Get inspired by social media
Sometimes it just takes a 15-second reel from a producer page on Instagram to unlock a new idea or try a technique you’ve never thought of. Stay curious and keep exploring, even outside your usual workflow. It’s a great way to break out of your comfort zone.
5. Bounce early, perfect later
Many producers get stuck chasing the perfect sound too early. I like to bounce ideas quickly, even if they’re rough or unfinished. Coming back to them later with fresh ears makes it easier to shape them into something strong.
