Bandcamp has unveiled a new playlist feature, now available in beta for iOS and Android users. Designed to reflect the personal, intentional spirit of mixtapes, Bandcamp Playlists allow fans to create and share collections built exclusively from music they own.
Unlike typical streaming platforms, Bandcamp Playlists prioritize ownership. Fans can only add tracks they’ve purchased to their collections, reinforcing the platform’s emphasis on direct artist support. Listeners who haven’t bought a particular track can stream it a limited number of times—three by default—before being prompted to purchase.
The playlists can be personalized with titles, images, and descriptions, and shared through public links. However, they remain rooted in fan-to-artist connection: users must be logged in to play them, ensuring engagement comes from real supporters.
For artists, this feature offers an organic discovery tool driven by their existing fanbase. Every playlist acts as a curated endorsement—one built not from algorithms, but from genuine ownership and connection.
