As a resident DJ at Silencio and the founder of her own event series, Untitled, Philou has carved out a place for herself with a bold, unfiltered approach to musical storytelling.
Her recent releases on Yes Yes Yes/Defected and Chambord’s Around Midnight showcase a sensibility that fuses global influences with a sharp ear for groove. With performances at Tomorrowland Winter, Extrema, and The Gardens of Babylon, she has earned her place on stages alongside some of the scene’s most revered names.
In this conversation, Philou opens up about her latest single ‘Baile Top’, her journey through the São Paulo underground, and why she’s not done dreaming just yet.
EG: Hi, Philou! Welcome to EG. It’s a pleasure to have you here with us. How have you been?
Philou: Hey! Thanks so much for having me. I’ve been great, honestly. The past few weeks have been a bit of a whirlwind, but in the best way. Between touring, my last release, and spending time with loved ones, I feel super grateful right now.
EG: First of all, congratulations on the release of your latest single, ‘Baile Top’! You must be stoked to have this one out and about. What are some of your thoughts now that it’s out? What has the initial reception been like so far?
Philou: Thank you! I am absolutely buzzing about this release. ‘Baile Top’ means a lot to me, not just musically, but personally. It’s been amazing to see how people are connecting with it on the dancefloor and online. The energy has been wild, and I’ve had lots of positive feedback and support from other artists. That feeling, of something you created traveling the world without you, is always surreal and beautiful.
EG: In a way, ‘Baile Top’ is an homage to a big step you took back in your twenties, right? How did that come about? What sparked that desire to find a new life away from home?
Philou: Yeah, absolutely. That track is a little postcard to the time I moved to Brazil in my twenties. I was feeling like I needed a real change — creatively, emotionally, spiritually, even. Europe had given me a lot, but I needed to break out of that rhythm. I had no clear plan, just this gut feeling that I needed to go where the energy was raw and vibrant. São Paulo gave me that. The culture, the nightlife, the people… it shook me up and made me fall in love with music in a different way.
EG: Did you ever imagine that raving through the São Paulo scene would end with you becoming a globe-trotting DJ?
Philou: Honestly, no! Back then, I wasn’t thinking that far ahead. I was just chasing good music, good people, and wild adventures. But those moments taught me so much — how to connect with people from another culture, how to trust my instincts, how to adapt to a new city (I was only 20 when I moved). And somewhere along the way, that turned into a career. I’m still figuring it all out as I go: it’s all about the journey, not the destination. Sounds cheesy, but it’s also true!

EG: Only a few weeks ago, you got to play at Marvellous Island, and not only that, but even your parents joined you on stage. That must have been quite the moment! Was this their first time raving with you?
Philou: Oh, that was THE moment. I still get emotional thinking about it. It was their first time joining me on stage and at a festival of that scale, no less. I think they finally saw what I see: this isn’t just “parties”, it’s community, it’s art, it’s storytelling through music. Having them there, dancing with the crowd, feeling that love, it felt like everything came full circle. I’ll never forget that.
EG: You have played at some of the biggest festivals and clubs across the world. So, what’s next in that area? Is there a new adventure that you aspire to? A new place to visit?
Philou: Always! There are still so many corners of the world I haven’t played in. Asia is calling me right now, especially Japan and South Korea. I am really craving a South American tour, and I would also love to play in the US — the dream would be to cross the country in a tour bus (laughter).
EG: What have been some of your favorite clubs and festivals to date? What is it that makes them special in your view?
Philou: There are so many, it’s hard to pick! But if I had to name a few… Woodstock 69 holds a special place in my heart, the sea view from the booth, the pure freedom people feel there, the energy… It’s unmatched. I’m so happy to play there again this year. Marvellous Island was also unforgettable, for obvious reasons. The Hangar event with Adriatique in Brussels was a really special moment for me — 13,000 people dancing under the rain was quite something. Club-wise, playing at Silencio in Paris is like being at home: it’s intimate but full of character, and of course, it’s where we host Untitled, so that makes it even more personal. The best nights, for me, are the ones where the crowd is open and willing to go on a journey with you.
EG: By the way, you’re also the co-founder of Untitled. Can you explain to our readers what Untitled is all about? What’s next for Untitled?
Philou: Yes! Untitled is a party series I co-founded in Paris. It started as a way to create a space that felt like ours: inclusive, forward-thinking, and musically curious. We wanted to blur the lines between genres, between who’s on stage and who’s on the dancefloor. Over the last two years, it’s grown into a real community, and we’ve had the honor of hosting some incredible artists like Tripolism and Chloé Caillet. What’s next? We’re working on expanding beyond Paris — maybe a little international tour, or even a stage takeover at a festival. The dream is to keep growing, without losing that feeling of intimacy and connection.

EG: What milestones are you looking forward to now? Where can your fans catch you next?
Philou: I have a few releases lined up that I’m really excited about, including some more playful club tracks but also deeper, more symbolic pieces I’ve been working on. Gig-wise, I’ve got a few big dates across Europe this summer and fall, including some festivals I can’t announce yet — but let’s just say they’re bucket-list moments for me. So stay tuned!
EG: Thank you so much for your time, Philou! We wish you all the best in the future. Take care!
Philou: Thank you so much! I’m grateful for the support and for the chance to share a bit of my story. Hope to see you on a dancefloor somewhere soon. Take care!
