Jeff Mills will debut his new residency, ‘Star Chronicle’, at Detroit’s Spot Lite from September 10th through 13th, 2025. Presented in collaboration with Paxahau, the program will combine performances, film screenings, and an exhibition curated by Mills, including art pieces and artifacts from his personal collection.
Each evening, Mills will be joined by collaborators from his quarterly magazine ‘Escape Velocity’ for talks and performances, with guests such as Terrence Dixon, Developer, and Optic Nerve. The exhibition will also feature screenings of two of Mills’ films: 2018’s ‘PLANETS’ by Dairakudakan on September 12th, and 2015’s ‘Life To Death And Back’ on September 13th. Additionally, he will present ‘X-102 Rediscovers The Rings of’, a compilation of excerpts from a live performance by X-102, his project with Mike Banks under Underground Resistance.
“The objective of Star Chronicle is to propose new ways of thinking about where we’re going. Collectively as a community of deep-thinking animals,” Mills shared. “What we’re spiraling towards and the purpose of staying awake. What it means to be conscious and alive.”
