“C’est Ma Vie” is the debut release from Cartagena, Colombia-originated and Toronto, Canada-based Musa Paradise. This is the first single off of the upcoming album for the band, and is a genre-blurring fusion of Afro-Latin soul, deep house, and nostalgic electronic textures. Built on a foundation of vintage drum machines, 909 hi-hat patterns, and house-inspired grooves, “C’est Ma Vie” pulses with an understated, late-night energy.
Layers of analog synths, hypnotic guitars, and live Afro-Cuban percussion bring a raw, organic dimension to the production, while subtle Afro-Colombian elements — including the maracón and tamboras of the chalupa rhythm — enrich the beat with ancestral depth. French vocals float above the arrangement, adding a poetic, intimate presence. Both lush and shadowy, “C’est Ma Vie” evokes a tropical melancholy — a reflective dance between the past and present, memory and movement.
Musa Paradise was formed in 2018 by longtime friends and musical collaborators, Jimmy Kiddo and Cesar Caballero. Inspired by Cartagena’s tropical vibe, Jimmy and Cesar experimented with an array of afro-Colombian and afro-Caribbean sounds. With fusions of Latin, rock, pop, and electronic influences, all of these explorations have helped define their personal identities and have become the bedrock for Musa Paradise’s musical and cultural direction.
