Berlin-based DJ and producer Erwin has launched his new label, Arepas Records, with its debut release — the ‘Arepas’ EP. Set to drop on September 26th, this marks a fresh chapter for the artist previously known as Florian Rietze.
The ‘Arepas’ EP blends deep house, minimal grooves, and ambient textures, offering a balanced mix of floor-ready rhythms and introspective moments. The record opens with ‘Arepas’, a cinematic, vocoder-laced cut that builds into atmospheric territory before settling into a sleek groove. ‘Well Deserved’ follows with warm snares and subtle vocal textures, while ‘Infinite Fries’ delivers playful piano and layered percussion. On the slower end, ‘Blueberry Cream’ offers sensual, piano-led intimacy, and closing track ‘Aguardiente’ wraps things up with a melancholic solo piano moment — reflective and quietly emotional.
The label’s concept is rooted in culinary-inspired storytelling, with each release structured like a course on a tasting menu. The first four EPs will feature food-themed titles and artwork that fit together across sleeves to form a complete visual piece.
Erwin, the new alias of Florian Rietze introduced this year, embraces analog warmth and minimalism. Previously known as Rietze, he performed at major European and Asian venues like Kater Blau and Rex Club, releasing music on labels including Male Cmos and Click Records.
“I’m super excited about the launch of Arepas Records and the first release,” says Erwin. “The label brings together my two biggest passions — good music and good food. My productions reflect everything I’ve experienced so far: from my multifaceted creative work and time in the studio with other artists, to my travels and exposure to different cultures. The idea behind the label is to build a community of like-minded producers, each bringing their own signature sound and flavor. We’re already accepting demos, and I want to encourage producers to send us their tracks.”
