Berlin mainstay Marcel Dettmann launches his new project My Own Shadow with the EP ‘Approaching’, out November 7th, 2025 via !K7 Records. Today, he shares the first single, ‘DMT’, now available on all streaming platforms.
A driving force in contemporary techno, Dettmann continues to evolve his creative vision. My Own Shadow brings together his music, photography, and performance work into a unified platform. “The name reflects the idea of working with something that is always with me but often unseen,” he shares. “I’ve reached a point where I don’t just want to release tracks or play club sets; I want to create a space where all of my artistic expressions meet.”
The EP features five tracks: ‘DMT’, ‘Thinking’, ‘Approaching’, ‘Without A Cause’, and ‘Timefold’. On ‘DMT’, Dettmann delivers a slice of time-tripping techno that taps into subconscious states and rhythmic intensity. Across the release, ambient textures and distorted grooves unfold into an immersive sonic experience.
Artwork for the project is drawn from Dettmann’s own photography, underscoring the project’s personal and multi-sensory approach. “Every show, every photograph, every fragment is part of the same shadow—always shifting, never the same twice.”
