Tabby – Boom / Chandni – Fake Rituals

With Boom / Chandni, Pakistan’s Fake Rituals strengthens its vision as a label that connects deep-rooted tradition with the underground pulse of today. Led by Berlin-based producer Tabby, the EP unfolds as a dialogue between cultures, merging the textures of South Asian heritage with the tactile energy of the modern club floor.

Opening with ‘Boom (Original Mix),’ Tabby sets a crisp, tech-tinged mood. The track rides a skipping house groove sharpened by restless percussion and laced with a melodic female vocal in Urdu that lends it a timeless allure. It feels both local and global, bridging Berlin’s late nights with Lahore’s mystique.

His ‘Berlin Spaced Out Mix’ drifts deeper into abstraction, stretching the groove into a hypnotic trip built for long rooms and patient listeners. Each sound breathes, floating in space as the low-end hums steadily beneath. It’s a meditative yet physical rework, turning the original’s sharp edges into smooth waves.

‘Chandni (Original Mix)’ changes tempo and emotion, unfolding as a heartfelt breakbeat piece where nostalgic synths meet yearning ethnic vocals. There’s a cinematic tenderness at its core, like a forgotten memory resurfacing through rhythm.

Closing the release, ‘Fake Shamans’ reshape Chandni into a darker, slower ritual. Their remix replaces the breaks with a fluid house frame, deep and elegant, glowing with understated tension. Hints of the original’s melody hover like ghosts, while low frequencies swirl with poise and restraint.

Together, these four pieces trace a path between continents and generations. ‘Boom / Chandni’ is not only a showcase for Tabby’s expanding artistry but a statement of intent from Fake Rituals — a label uniting identity, rhythm, and emotion through a sound that belongs everywhere and nowhere at once.
