Tycho has unveiled his latest collaboration with Interpol’s Paul Banks. Titled ‘Boundary Rider’, the new track is out now through Ninja Tune (UK, ROW) and Mom+Pop (US).
Rooted in Tycho’s long-standing admiration for Interpol, ‘Boundary Rider’ finds Scott Hansen in post-rock territory, with Banks’ vocals layered over intricate percussion, swirling guitars, and ambient synths.
“Interpol has long been one of my biggest influences so I jumped at the opportunity to collaborate with Paul on a song,” says Hansen. “‘Boundary Rider’ started life as an atmospheric instrumental song titled ‘Forge’ that I had been working on here and there for a couple of years. When I met Paul and started thinking about what songs might connect with his voice, Forge immediately came to mind.”
He continues: “I sent him a demo along with the prompt ‘Boundary Rider’. I had been reading about the lives of Boundary Riders during the 1930s, people who patrolled and maintained fences in the vast expanse of the Western Australian outback. There was something about this solitary existence that I felt resonated with the song and the deep sense of isolation in Paul’s lyrics brought this into focus.”
The release follows Tycho’s sixth studio album ‘Infinite Health’, and a series of collaborations with artists such as ODESZA, Little Dragon, and Maggie Rogers. Earlier this year, Tycho supported Polo and Pan on tour, performing to over 67,000 fans with his TYCHO:ISO50 show. He is set to return with more headline DJ sets this November, including a special performance at Art Basel Miami.
Interpol recently marked the 20th anniversary of their sophomore album ‘Antics’, with South American tour dates confirmed for spring 2026 and a scheduled appearance at Coachella.
