After nearly a decade, Sankeys is returning to its hometown. The legendary club brand has announced the opening of a new 500-capacity venue in central Manchester, set to debut on Friday, January 30th, and Saturday, January 31st, 2026.
This marks the first official Sankeys venue in Manchester since the closure of its iconic Ancoats location in 2017. Designed to reflect the underground spirit that defined its legacy, the new space will offer a stripped-back experience enhanced by the brand’s signature LED matrix grid installation.
Voted Best Club in the World in 2010, Sankeys built its reputation on groundbreaking programming and raw atmosphere. The relaunch aims to rekindle that energy, with a strong focus on emerging talent in house, tech-house, and techno. After the opening weekend, the club will host Sankeys Saturdays weekly, beginning February 7th. The return of Tribal Sessions is also confirmed as a monthly residency.
According to Creative Director David Vincent: “What we’re creating is an intimate underground club with a chill out room. We will only be open one night a week on the Saturday. There will be no VIP or phones allowed on the dancefloor — everyone is a VIP. People need to stop taking pictures and start dancing to the beat.”
Over the years, Sankeys has served as a launchpad for some of the most influential names in electronic music, including ANOTR, The Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk, David Guetta, Franky Rizardo, Jamie Jones, The Martinez Brothers, and Solomun. That legacy will continue as the new venue champions a fresh wave of underground talent while honoring familiar names from its storied past.
