Future Forms, a new performance series founded by EREZ and Tanguay, has announced its debut edition. Taking place on January 30th at National Sawdust in New York City, the event blends electronic music, contemporary dance, and immersive spatial design in a format that unfolds from live performance into a full rave. DJ sets by x3butterfly and Seb Wildblood will follow the live segments.
Created as a queer-led, cross-genre platform, Future Forms places choreography and electronic composition in direct conversation, reshaping how dance and sound interact in real time. The project moves beyond traditional performance by inviting the audience into an active, participatory role throughout the night.
The event will unfold in two chapters: BASE and OUTPUT. BASE establishes the show’s choreographic and musical vocabulary through live original music by EREZ and choreography by Tanguay, performed by a cast of internationally acclaimed dancers. OUTPUT shifts into a rave-driven environment guided by a curated DJ lineup, extending the performance into the club realm. A third chapter will be introduced in future iterations.
Future Forms extends EREZ and Tanguay’s collaborative practice and relationship. EREZ is an electronic artist and DJ who has performed at Coachella and Outsidelands and supported Gorillaz and Dom Dolla. Tanguay is a choreographer with Gibney Company, with credits for Vogue, NOWNESS, and Brain Dead. Their vision centers on intimacy, transformation, and physical connection through sound and movement.
The creative team has worked on projects with Radiohead, Four Tet, FKA Twigs, and Sampha. The debut takes place in National Sawdust’s 120-speaker Meyer surround system, a venue that has hosted David Byrne and Ryuichi Sakamoto.
