Matthias Tanzmann’s Moon Harbour marks 25 years of deep, groove-driven electronic music with the new compilation, ’25 Years of Moon Harbour.’
Founded in Leipzig in 2000, Moon Harbour began as a musical home for Tanzmann and close friends. A quarter century later, it stands as one of Europe’s most respected labels for deep house and tech-infused club music. “When we started, we didn’t think that far ahead. We just wanted to release our own music. Running the label for 25 years wasn’t something we could envision,” says Tanzmann.
The anniversary compilation reflects the imprint’s journey with eight new tracks from artists who’ve helped shape its sound across eras. Long-time collaborators like Luna City Express, Mathias Kaden, and Steve Bug appear alongside newer voices, including Cinthie, wAFF, Defex, and Stefano Noferini. Tanzmann himself contributes two collaborations—one with Mathias Kaden (‘Hypno Funk’) and another with Steve Bug (‘Good Time’).
“For the anniversary, we tried to compile new music of artists from the whole timespan of the label’s existence,” Tanzmann explains. “Luna City Express and I were there from the beginning. Steve Bug and Mathias Kaden have always been in the circle, while wAFF, Stefano Noferini, Defex, and Cinthie represent the more recent chapters.”
Across all eight tracks, ’25 Years of Moon Harbour’ offers a broad yet coherent snapshot of the label’s evolution—rhythmic, melodic, and emotionally charged.
