Blake Jarrell steps into the EG Records series with a debut mix that captures a defining moment in his trajectory. Now available on SoundCloud and Mixcloud, the session reflects both his early foundations and his renewed creative focus.
Jarrell began his career as an apprentice to Armin van Buuren, touring more than 60 countries over a decade as his hand-picked support DJ. Those formative years grounded him in trance, but his identity has since expanded beyond that framework. Today, his sound sits at the intersection of progressive house, techno, and melodic trance, guided by depth, restraint, and long-form storytelling.
After stepping away from the scene to battle cancer, Jarrell re-emerged with a sharpened perspective and purpose. That experience informs the tone of this mix, which unfolds patiently across 35 tracks. Selections from Nick Stoynoff, Ranj Kaler, Amadeo Acqua, Jamie Stevens, Pilch and Tim French, Fauxplay, Kiky Pop, Alexander Church, Mausolle Sandro S Jo Fer, Cass (UK), Danny Tenaglia, Cass and Slide, Olivers Pattern, Mike McCarthy, False Intentions, Focus FL, D-Nox and Andre Moret, Stereo Mind, Guy Didden, OKASSUS, Delta Horizon, Leaving Laurel, Overtone, Secretly Famous and Freedo Mosho, Maze 28, Noel Sanger, Stereo Underground, Vela and PYRRHUS, Du More, Electronic Youth, and Beaumont Stanford shape the progression. The session also features his own ‘Different Love’ on Ray Of Light, reinforcing the personal weight behind the project.
With forthcoming releases on Bedrock, UV, Ray Of Light, Mango Alley, and Dissident, Jarrell continues to refine a sound influenced by Hernan Cattaneo, Paul Thomas, Sasha, John Digweed, Boards of Canada, and Telefon Tel Aviv. Alongside his studio work, he curates the weekly Concentrate Selections series on Spotify and Apple Music, offering deeper insight into the music guiding his path.
