DJ and producer Julio Aguilar presents his debut appearance on the EG Spotlight series, now available on SoundCloud and Mixcloud. For the occasion, Aguilar looks back to the records that helped shape his approach behind the decks.

Drawing inspiration from late 1990s and early 2000s club culture, the mix focuses on groove, percussion, and tension, elements that defined long nights on the dancefloor during that era. Aguilar moves through progressive house and tribal-leaning selections that emphasize steady momentum rather than quick peaks.

The tracklist features music by Planet Funk, Murk, Little Green Men, Circuit Boy featuring Alan T., Prototype, Dizzy and Jado, Halo Varga, Hipp-e and Tony, Jas, and DJ Garth and E.T.I, alongside a white label opener.

Aguilar’s musical direction reflects the same sensibility found in his productions. Sitting between progressive house, minimal, and deep tech, his releases on Little Helpers and ExtraSketch focus on percussion-driven movement while leaving space for atmosphere.
