Rooted in a shared creative vision, the collaboration unfolds through a balance of groove, atmosphere, and emotional intent.
Each artist brings a defined perspective into the process, resulting in a track shaped by trust and openness. The project also expands with contributions from EdOne, adding further depth to the release and reinforcing its collaborative nature.
In this conversation, Prana Flow, panz, and Paul Brenning open up about the making of ‘Spirit Rise’, their collaborative dynamic, and their plans for the months ahead.
EG: Hi, guys! Welcome to EG. It’s a pleasure to have you here with us. How have you been doing?
Prana Flow: Thank you for having me! I’m doing very well. It’s a very inspiring time right now; there’s a lot of new music, exciting collaborations, and live performances. I feel like this year is going to bring a lot of strong releases.
panz: I’ve been feeling great, thank you. Lately, I’ve been deeply immersed in creativity, exploring new emotions and sounds through music. It’s been exciting to see this project come together and to be able to share it with a wider audience.
Paul Brenning: I’ve been doing great, thank you! Seeing this project come to life and sharing it with the world feels good.
EG: First of all, congratulations on the release of your new collaborative single, ‘Spirit Rise.’ You must be thrilled to be able to share this one. What has the initial reception been like so far?
Prana Flow: Thank you! We’re really happy about this release. I’ve already tested it many times, and the reaction has been very warm, especially on the dancefloor at Savaya Bali, where it lit up the crowd last night. Every winter, I head to Bali as a resident DJ at Savaya, so dropping tracks there feels like home.
panz: The initial response has been really encouraging. It already feels like there’s a small ‘Spirit Rise’ club forming; some people have been coming to my shows hoping to hear it, which is a beautiful feeling. We’ve also had a lot of requests from both DJs and regular listeners asking how they can get the track, so it’s been amazing to see such genuine interest so early on.
EG: What can you tell your fans about this new drop? Is there a concept or emotional trigger behind this collab?
Prana Flow: For me, ‘Spirit Rise’ is about inner energy and that special moment when music unites people.
panz: If we’re not focusing on the lyrics and look more at the overall atmosphere, what makes ‘Spirit Rise’ special for me is that each of us brought a different energy into the track, and together it turned into something both intimate and powerful. There’s a sense of emotional connection in it, but also movement and lift, like a shared experience that grows stronger through music. What also makes this project special is that it brought together five different and talented musicians. First, Zakir joined us with his remix, and then EdOne came on board, which gave the whole release even more depth and perspective.
Paul Brenning: For me, the lyrics are about intimacy, sharing, and the strength found in a vulnerable bond.
EG: ‘Spirit Rise’ is quite a powerful name. Where did it come from? How did you arrive there?
Prana Flow: That’s really a question for Paul; he came up with the lyrics, and the title grew naturally from that.
Paul Brenning: It refers to the idea that opening up can be painful, but it’s also how I grow. That ‘rise’ is simply the strength I find in those intimate moments.
“People connect with honesty, individuality, and music that carries a real point of view”
EG: How did the track come about? What was the process for this one like? Was the idea to work with Paul on vocals always there?
Prana Flow: At first, we had the musical idea, the groove and the overall atmosphere. As we started working on the structure, it became clear that the track needed a strong vocal. Paul’s voice fit the story perfectly and added depth and emotion.
panz: For me, the track came together very organically. We started with the groove and the emotional direction, and little by little, the whole atmosphere began to reveal itself. At that moment, I was already in touch with Paul because we had been discussing the idea of doing a track together. We sent him the demo, he really liked it, and soon after, he recorded the vocal part. It clicked with us from the very first listen; we didn’t even feel the need to rewrite anything.
EG: What are some key points for a successful collab? How do you manage to make it so your individual identities and taste are still present?
Prana Flow: The most important things are trust and openness to each other’s ideas. When everyone brings their own energy while still working toward the same goal, the result becomes something truly special. I love it when a collaboration creates a sound that none of us would have made on our own.
panz: I think trust is one of the most important parts of any successful collaboration, but it’s also essential to feel a shared vibe with the person and have a common musical vision. In this case, we didn’t give Paul any references or creative limitations; we gave him complete freedom, and I think that made a real difference. He brought his own perspective and emotion into the track, and that helped keep his identity fully present. For me, that’s what makes a collab work: when everyone has the space to express themselves naturally, while still moving in the same direction.
Paul Brenning: For me, a successful collab is built on trust and giving each other the space to do what we do best. By focusing on my vocal production while letting panz and Prana Flow shape the instrumental, we naturally kept our individual identities.

EG: On to a broader subject… What would you like to accomplish as an artist this year? Is there something “tangible” that you’d like to go for?
Prana Flow: This year, I want to release several really strong records and continue developing my sound. I’m also planning more performances and new collaborations. The main goal is for the music to resonate with people and be played on dance floors around the world.
panz: This year, I’m continuing to work on developing my sound and pushing it to a deeper and more refined level. I already have a few more collaborations and solo releases on the way, which I’m really excited about. At the same time, I want to be more consistent with releases and bring this music to more dance floors and new audiences. For me, the main goal is to keep building a stronger artistic identity and express my inner vision as a musician, telling my own stories through music.
EG: What are some of the challenges artists will face in the near future? What advice would you give to your colleagues?
Prana Flow: There’s more and more music being released, so it’s important to preserve your individuality. My advice is not to chase trends, but to create music that truly reflects who you are as an artist.
panz: I think one of the biggest challenges artists will face in the near future is staying true to themselves and expressing their own ideas through their art. There is more music, more content, and more pressure from algorithms and social media, and in that environment, it becomes very easy to lose your identity while chasing attention. Of course, social media can be a powerful tool, but it should support your art rather than define your value as an artist. And as simple as it sounds, spending more time in the studio still matters — in the end, people connect with honesty, individuality, and music that carries a real point of view.

EG: What’s next for Prana Flow, panz, & Paul Brenning? Where can your fans catch you next?
Prana Flow: This is our second collaboration with panz, and I hope not the last. More music is on the way, after ‘Spirit Rise’, look out for my next release mid-April on Unreleased rec, and another in May on my own label Parallel Lives.
panz: What’s next is definitely more new music. Prana Flow and I have just finished another collaborative track, and we haven’t shown it to anyone yet, so that’s something I’m really excited about. Also, ‘Spirit Rise’ is actually our second collaboration in this exact line-up. Our first track together was ‘Foam & Stone’, released on Sanctuary, the label run by Samer Soltan. As for Paul, I feel like this won’t be our last collaboration; there’s a strong creative connection there, and I’d be happy to work together again. In terms of where fans can catch me next, the best way is to follow upcoming shows and release announcements, because there’s a lot in progress right now.
Paul Brenning: I’m currently back in the studio working on some solo material and a few follow-up projects.
