Carl Craig has reissued his ambient album ‘Meditations’, marking its first full release across digital platforms.
Out now via his Planet E Communications imprint, the project was originally conceived as a suite of beatless compositions. It occupies a distinct space within Craig’s catalog, bridging his Detroit techno roots with broader explorations in orchestral work and multidisciplinary installations.
The reissue also arrives alongside a limited edition C60 cassette version, available exclusively through the Planet E webstore and Bandcamp. Across six tracks, ‘Meditations’ presents a stripped-back approach that contrasts with Craig’s club-oriented output.
This release follows a period of renewed attention around Craig’s work, including the global circulation of the ‘Desire: The Carl Craig Story’ documentary and its accompanying soundtrack. Parallel to this, his All Black Vinyl series has further positioned him as an archivist of Black musical history, drawing from his personal collection to highlight authorship across genres.
