Lightroom hosted ‘Bowie Nights: Behind the Lens’ at its King’s Cross venue, bringing together six photographers whose work helped document and shape the public image of David Bowie throughout his career.

Presented by journalist and author Miranda Sawyer, the event featured Geoff MacCormack, Kevin Cummins, Richard Young, Denis O’Regan, Tony McGee, and Chris Duffy. Each shared photographs and personal stories from their time working with Bowie, offering insight into his creative process, relationship with the camera, and evolving artistic identity.

Among the highlights were reflections on Bowie’s instinctive understanding of photography, stories from major tours and publicity shoots, and discussions surrounding some of his most celebrated images, including the cover of ‘Aladdin Sane’. The photographers also recalled Bowie’s humor, professionalism, and ability to move effortlessly between performance and everyday life.

The event forms part of Lightroom’s Bowie Nights series, running alongside the immersive production ‘David Bowie: You’re Not Alone’. The broader program will continue through September 2026 with additional talks and events exploring Bowie’s cultural legacy.

Tickets for ‘Bowie Nights’ are available here.
