Berny – Zoinger – IDWT
The fifteenth release on IDWT arrives with its founder at the helm. Never content to remain comfortably within the boundaries of House and Techno, Berny continues to push those limits with ‘Zoinger’, a track as sharp and unsettling as the American slang term it references: a zinger, a cutting remark that catches you off guard and leaves a lasting impression.
Built around a warm, subtly distorted bassline, the track unfolds through a looping motif that refuses to resolve where expected, sliding chromatically and allowing notes to linger just a beat too long. Its harmonic movement evolves gradually over minutes rather than bars, creating a constant sense of progression without ever fully settling.
Layered synth pads driven by offset LFOs generate a powerful internal pulse that is felt more than heard, while countless subtle details emerge beneath the surface. Rather than relying on dramatic peaks, ‘Zoinger’ gains strength through gradual transformation, thickening, thinning, and returning darker with each cycle. The result is Berny’s signature Deep, Dark & Jacking sound at its most refined.
