Franco Armellini has announced the launch of Ascension Rec., a new independent label created as he approaches a decade behind the decks and within electronic music. Conceived as a platform driven by artistic intent, the imprint will focus on music selected through emotion rather than genres, algorithms, or commercial expectations.
According to Armellini, the label grew out of years of receiving unreleased music from producers, an exchange he describes as a deeply personal process built on trust and creative dialogue. “Ascension will be a place for the music,” he explains. “It is not, and will never be, a label guided by trends, favors, or social ties. It is a space for music that speaks with authenticity.”
Opening the catalogue is the five-track compilation ‘Portals Vol. I’, featuring contributions from German Tedesco, Tom Pavicich, Manuel Ventresca, Franco Armellini and Ignacio Berardi, and Joan Retamero. Moving between deep house and progressive sounds, each track offers a different perspective on the label’s identity while reflecting its commitment to artistic expression over stylistic boundaries.
Ascension Rec. will operate without a fixed release calendar, allowing each project to arrive when both the music and the artist are ready. Further details on the artists featured on ‘Portals Vol. I’ and its release date are expected to be announced soon.
