Change the Beat has announced a new phase of growth focused on expanding opportunities for women and gender-expansive artists across electronic music. Through education, mentorship, industry access, live events, and release programmes, the organisation aims to help 300 artists secure label opportunities within two years, expanding that figure to 600 within five years and 1,500 within ten years.
Alongside the recent relaunch of its Remix Contest Programme, the organisation will introduce ‘The Demo Room’, a new initiative connecting emerging artists directly with labels through demo submissions, feedback, and A&R sessions. Future collaborations will include Westend, Trace Amounts, and Sara Landry’s HEKATE Records, following recent partnerships with SIPPY and DeadBeats.
Founded by Sydney Blu, Change the Beat has built a community of more than 1,200 members while facilitating over 100 label opportunities. The organisation continues to expand its educational programmes and industry partnerships across the UK, US, Canada, and Europe.
Sydney Blu said: “We’re not here simply to talk about the challenges facing women and gender expansive artists — we’re here to be part of the solution.”
