The ‘One Side of the Underground’ series on Proton Music has been the perfect vehicle for Rick Pier O’Neil to showcase his incomparable production skills. Now taking ‘Cancun’ from August 2018’s best-selling ‘Vol. 2’, remixes for Yin and Yang come courtesy of Sri Lankan and Mexican artists.

Passionate about and immersed in electronic music from an early age, Dimuth K has managed to utilize that passion with vibrant DJ sets across his Sri Lankan home alongside Guy J, Jeremy Olander and Cid Inc. An impressive production career has followed with work signed to the likes of Balkan Connection, Sudbeat and the number 1 best-selling ‘JOOF Editions, Vol. 5’ on John 00 Fleming’s renowned imprint.

Making his Yang debut, Dimuth K reworks ‘Cancun’ with a gloriously grooved bassline and rolling rhythmic cadence that captures the dark edge of O’Neil’s original. Using the wave-like pads so central to the original, rich new melodic textures meander across the track making their mark at the mid-point breakdown with striking arpeggiated crescendo. Building into the third movement, rhythm and bass continue once more with Dimuth K’s motifs prominent in a classy new remix that pays tribute to O’Neil.
