Acclaimed London-based DJ collective HOUSEKEEPING mark a sublime return with the out of this world ‘Lunar Maria’ EP, released on their label HOUSEKEEPING Records on 13 March.
The two-track EP features a unique fusion of tribal and cosmic beats, alongside cleverly layered percussion to prove why HOUSEKEEPING are such an exciting outfit.
The pulsating title track ‘Lunar Maria’ is an exhilarating opener with driving percussion and shimmering strings deployed alongside a haunting horn section which evokes images of natural wonder and mysterious lands.
The atmospheric and laid-back ‘Moonscape’ takes things into after-hours territory with sultry, alluring synths and hypnotic tribal drumming.
HOUSEKEEPING said that the inspiration for the ‘Lunar Maria’ EP came from “being consumed by tribal sounds and beats whilst partying under the moon in Tulum, Mexico.”
HOUSEKEEPING was formed in 2012 by DJs Taylor McWilliams, Carl Waxberg, Jacobi, and Sebastian MDH. Previous HOUSEKEEPING EPs include ‘Musica’, ‘Mugabe Out’, ‘My Body’, ‘Best Friend, Worst Enemy’, ‘Let’s Play’, and ‘Damn Dollar’ which were supported by leading DJs and tastemakers including Pete Tong, Seth Troxler, Nic Fanciulli, Dennis Ferrer, Steve Lawler, Agoria, Richy Ahmed, Danny Howard, and Damian Lazarus.
