On the rework of Gabríel Ólafs’ ‘Bára’, Icelandic duo Hugar merge the traditional and contemporary using atmospheric horns and ambient undertones, lifting the original to monolithic new heights. Individually their talents are well documented, together it is pure bliss.
‘Absent Minded Reworks’ is released via One Little Independent Records on November 13th and also features the likes of Niklas Paschburg, Masayoshi Fujita, Kelly Moran and more. It largely builds on the originals ambient melodies with layers of delicate keys and glistening synth, utilizing the touch of some of the industry’s most respected visionaries.
